ABOUT

Sarah is an experienced journalist, editor, creative writer, and social media professional. She is based in the Philadelphia area and values creativity, social inclusion, and authenticity in her work. Sarah is a valued member of the NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ  Journalists and is currently a Reviews Editor for the Hearst Magazines Enthusiast Group in Easton, Pennsylvania. The Enthusiast Group includes Popular Mechanics, Runner's World, Best Products, and Biography.com.

When she's not writing, Sarah enjoys coaching figure skating, hitting the trails with her fiancée Kate and their pup Rosie, playing guitar, and rewatching the Cameron Crowe classic Almost Famous.

S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University

Sarah is proudly a 2021 graduate of the prestigious Goldring Arts Journalism and Communication M.A. program at the renowned Newhouse School. While at SU, Sarah honed her skills in written criticism, reporting, critical thinking, and editing for all audiences including online, print, and television. During her time in graduate school, she also completed an editorial internship at Relix Magazine and worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Broadcast & Digital Journalism department at Newhouse.

Graduating magna cum laude, Sarah completed a dual degree in English on a nonfiction writing track and Communication Rhetoric. While at Pitt, she was heavily involved in the student newspaper, The Pitt News, winning a Gold Circle Award from Columbia University's Scholastic Press Association for Best Cultural Feature in 2018. She completed three internships during her time in undergrad — working with Pittsburgh Magazine, Pittsburgh City Paper, and Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering Magazine.

RECENT WORK EXPERIENCE

March 2025-present
Hearst Magazines

In her newest professional upgrade, Sarah is Reviews Editor with the Enthusiast Group team at Hearst Magazines. This group includes multiple Hearst publications, but Sarah mostly writes for Popular Mechanics and Runner's World. In this role, she writes, edits, and updates review product ontent for both print and online editions of these magazines.

Hearst Television

Sarah was first hired as a Copy Editor for Hearst Television after graduating from Syracuse in May 2021. As a copy editor, she proofed stories from all 28 of Hearst's local TV news stations. After 18 months as a Copy Editor, she was promoted to an Editor/Content Curator position in the Hearst Tower of NYC for the HTV National News Desk. In this role, Sarah wrote and syndicated content to be broadcast online and on-air for all of the Hearst TV stations.

May 2022-January 2023

Pittsburgh City Paper

After interning with the publication, Sarah was a freelance contributor with the popular alt-weekly in her hometown, Pittsburgh City Paper. She wrote for the arts & entertainment section, focusing on music, visual art, film, and social justice. Her July 2022 feature on murals of notable individuals throughout the city of Pittsburgh was a cover story and was shared by multiple officials in the city and state.
